The R1 is still very much derived from the original. In 2021 the R1 took the World Superbike Triple Crown, further cementing the bike’s iconic status as a racer. It is another monster machine that has stood the test of time, first on the scene in 1998 with a 998cc inline-four engine and 150 horsepower. The R1 is one of my favourite motorcycles, particularly the 2006 SP version in Black and Gold.
